Panel Discussion Guidelines

Overview

The panel sessions at NURETH-21 are designed to bring together experts to discuss critical issues and emerging trends in nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics. These sessions aim to facilitate knowledge exchange, identify challenges, and explore innovative solutions. Panelists will share their insights, followed by interactive discussions with the audience.

Licensing Approaches on Best Estimate Plus Uncertainty (BEPU) for Passive Systems
Thermal Hydraulic Issues on High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) Fuels
Light Water Reactor (LWR) Fuel Reliability
Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) Forum
Water-Cooled Small Modular Reactors (SMRs)
Thermal Hydraulics Challenges and Opportunities in Operating Reactors
Deployment of Advanced Reactors
Safety and Thermal Hydraulics in Fukushima Decommissioning
Other Specific Topics: e.g. microreactors, space reactors, opportunities with data centers, high burnup fuel, Time at temperature operation, etc. (Additional Ideas are welcome but encouraged to contact the TPC Chair via the PCO (paper@nureth-21.org) in advance before moving ahead.)

Session Format

Duration: Each panel session will last 90 minutes.
Structure (suggested):

- Introduction: Session chair introduces the panelists and outlines the session (10 minutes).

- Panelist Presentations: 3-5 panelists, each delivering 10- to 15-minute presentation. (50-60 minutes).

- Audience Q&A: Open floor for questions and comments (20-30 minutes).

Guidelines for Panelists

Presentation: Prepare a 10- to 15-minute talk focusing on:

- Key challenges and advancements in the topic

- Practical implications and future directions.

Engagement: Actively participate in the Q&A session to address audience queries.
Collaboration: Coordinate with other panelists to avoid redundancy and complement discussions.

Topic Submission (Closing Date: March 31)

Session plans must be submitted and approved by Technical Program Committee.
The submission to Technical Program Chair (paper@nureth-21.org) should include; the session title, session organizers, tentative lists of proposed panelists, and the expected outcome (a half-page summary).
